Visual reminders at transition points

A small card at the classroom door reading “Breathe. Arrive. Intend.”

Why it matters

Transitions are where stress spills from one moment into the next. A small, deliberate cue at a threshold turns an automatic moment into a chance to reset, supporting presence and emotion regulation without adding any time to the day.

How to build it

  1. 1

Place a discreet card or decal at each classroom or office door.

  2. 2

Keep the language short and kind: “Breathe. Arrive. Intend.”

  3. 3

Pair it with the Threshold Practice so the cue has a matching action.

  4. 4

Refresh or move the cue occasionally so it stays noticeable rather than invisible.

Compassionate organizational climates are associated with higher employee well-being and commitment (Seppälä et al., 2014; Barsade & O’Neill, 2014).
